Lovely Monster

Lovely Monster

A Poem by

Sh, quiet your voice,
or you'll wake up his soul.
And you'll hear the beat of his heart,
Faster and faster as it races forward.
Don't move any closer,
or you'll see his face.
It pulls you in,
like a violent hurricane.

Are you quiet now?
Can you hear the hush?
Of that distant breath,
and that rhythmic tap?
Listen intently,
and you'll find the song.
The song that brings up a memory,
you tried so hard to ignore.

Oh no, you woke him up.
But, maybe he'll fall back asleep.
Hurry up,
and sing the lullaby.
The song played by the strings of heart.
Pull each note carefully,
did I tell you not?
You must be singing now,
his eyelids are shut.
Now quiet your singing voice,
so we can rejoice..

Exquisite! I applaud you for your amazing imagery and yout poem left me in a sense of dark magic and fragile wonder.
The song played by the strings of heart.
"Pull each note carefully,
did I tell you not?
You must be singing now,
his eyelids are shut.
Now quiet your singing voice,
so we can rejoice.."
Well Done Twinkle!

This sounds like it was made for the Phantom of the Opera.
Which I love, so to me this is absolutely fantastic. I love the darkness and the mystery and the music. Great job. Xx

As you read, I feel shivers run down my spine. A wonderful poem. I feel as I read, and imagine a monster under my bed and begin to think of the thoughts I had as a small girl. A great poem to have read. Excellent job!

This is a very good poem and I enjoyed it alot. I wonder if you ever thought about maybe expanding it so that it reads like a short story. It would be interesting to see what you can come up with. As I was reading it i was pictureing it as a short story....very good job

Thank you for the amazing poem. I had to read the poem a few times to grasp the emotion and the desire of the words. I like the gentle pace and the strong ending. The photo made the words come alive. A outstanding poem.
