Saree is derived from the Sanskrit word sati means a piece of cloth and is known by saree, sadi and Sari in various parts of India. It has come a long way from being just a piece of clothing to lengths of 9 yards, 12 and even 14. The significance of saree has been found in various Indian scriptures and mythological narrations like, Vedas, Upanishads and many more.

The accompaniments of saree:

The saree is worn on a cloth known as petticoat that acts as a covering shield for the lower portion the women. The bosom is covered to a custom-made cloth cut according to the body type of the woman known as Blouse (top). Both these accompaniments are very important for wearing a saree. Normally, such additions are preferred in the same color as that of the saree, but now-a-days even contrast colors are also preferred. The top usually comes with the saree, where from the cloth is needed to be cut off, keeping in mind the body type of the women.
