Internal Derangement

Internal Derangement

A Poem by Connie
"

I wrote this about my mother

"

When a mother is sick she hurts her child,

on some level she's aware all the while.

Long lost before she ever gave birth,

to children she'd hurt & try & curse.

There is another version that no one see's,

except the child who's unhappy.

Words of hate & eyes of rage,

children kept inside a cage.

This mother takes away the femininity,

of the girls who threaten her identity.

Though she continues to bear more at her will,

those kids have no chance at a life with her still.

No kindly smiles or warm embrace,

except for a cold, void look on her face.

Mother stabs with words of resentment & fear,

no one comes to rescue the children here.

Mother's secret is safe until one day you see,

a little girl stands up with the courage to flee.

This girl speaks out against the sin,

that repeats itself again & again.

The time has come and she is free,

from the mother who never wanted her anyway.

Mother hides away till this day,

her time is coming for her sins to weigh.

For all her crimes she must be compensate,

but for her soul it's just too late.

You cannot revive a soul that's died,

and cannot feel a thing inside.

Mother was once a little girl too,

but someone broke her soul in two.

This does not make it all okay,

for the mind of a deranged mother never goes away.

This is gut wrenching, not all women are cut out to be mothers nor loving caregivers. Those scars ultimately last a lifetime.

If only she could have been the one to break the cycle of violence before you did. Another wonderful write, showing the true horrors of those who are entrusted with life.
We can never truly know the horror, not understand, but with your words, we can understand a little better and hopefully find their way to people who need them most.
Thank you again for sharing.
