I am not Gone

I am not Gone

A Poem by Connie
"

I wrote this poem after being inspired by a scene in a movie. In the scene the grown children were spreading the ashes of their mother.

"

I once feared the fiery flames,

Now I see the beauty in its release.

To become one with the earth,

Will bring me a final peace;

To be carried on the winds,

As light as butterflies;

To be a part of every sunset,

And of every new sunrise;

In a ghostly cloud of fragments,

Of me now is what remains,

To be enveloped in each nights darkness,

Or washed away with summer rains;.

What is dead now gives life again,

I am the new flowers that bloom.

I am on the warm spring wind,

That you'll smell their sweet perfume;

I'm a cloud floating high above,

On a clear blue sunny day,

I'm in the sunshine that warms your shoulders,

Like a hug to fill your day.

I'm in the soil under your feet,

Or a bird flying above,

Just remember the life you gave me,

When you filled it with your love;

It's in this beauty that I am free,

And I'm one with you forever,

Remember I am not gone,

Again one day we'll be together.

I love this message! This is my feeling of death, whether mine or someone else's. I love the simple acceptance, but taking that much further, you also suggest there's so much new life that can spring forth after death -- your word paintings of the possibilities is what makes this message shine in a memorable way. I so subscribe to the idea of death as a release, bringing freedom, not sorrow. I have never cared much for the ideas of heaven & hell. Just let me be a sprinkle of ashes to encourage new growth! This is very artfully stated.

Life is eternal for in memory we are reborn with each new generation "Remember I am not gone". How we view death says a lot about how we live life "What is dead now gives life again". Philosophical depth, emotionally liberating and inspiring, I don't see how you could accomplish any more with this poem as I covers it all. Well written, heart warming and thought provoking, a pleasure to read :~)

We come from the earth, we return to the earth. The bit in between is where we make the memories that follow us.
What is dead now gives life again,
I am the new flowers that bloom.... Wonderful

Just remember the life you gave me,
When you filled it with your love.... Breath-taking
Truly beautiful.
