Time always seems to move slower when you're staring right at it. And the wait becomes interminable when you’re in desperate need for the numbers to turn. The last 5 minutes of everyday is a ceaseless routine of fidgety legs and eyes glued to the clock. Finally when the speakers scream and sounds of alleviation escape the mouths of the newly unchained prisoners, I dash for the open door like a moth headed for the headlights.
The perceived, subjective passage of time is heavily influenced by many factors. There is an objective passing of time, which is determined by the speed in which you are traveling. We are all on the same planet, and thus time is objectively passing the same for all of us. Yet it doesn't feel that way, at all. Everything from age, to contentment of the moment will impact how it feels. The younger you are, the slower time goes, as your frame of reference is skewed. A single day is, in ratio, a much larger block of time for a 10 year old, because they haven't experienced as many days in total. How happy, sad, bored , etc that you are also majorly effects how fast time seems to go. Those are the two largest influences, and your piece here really captured the later. Good work :)
