You took your dog away from harm
Rescued him
Loved him
For his faults
And deformities
For his upbringing
You've forgiven
The animal that fights back blindly
That can't speak
But
When you look at me
And my upbringing
You scream
And find my faults
Exacerbate them
Exploit me
Abuse me
For being abused
For being wounded
For trying to survive
The traumas of man
With no remorse
You silence me
Like an animal
And treat me
As lesser than
For falling victim to
The faults of mankind
The lie of redemption
The pursuit of happiness
