New Years Eve

Self explanitory...I saw someone I liked in a bar on New Years Eve

Holding myself back
From breaking through
Just to touch your skin
Just to be near you.

Last night you were pouring drinks,
And last night I watched you.
I could only smile.
This is nothing new.

I'm going to have to move on,
And make sure it's soon.
I'm going to have to realise
That I wasn't made for you.

This will be my resolution.

I cried for you so far away.
You slowly disappeared.
I spent the night beneath your cloud
Wishing you were here.

I'll tell you in my slumber,
And i'll keep you there.
I'll cradle you.
I'll kiss your hair.
And when I wake
Should you be gone?
My memories of you will linger on.

I'm going to have to move on
And make sure it's soon.
I'm going to have to realise
That I wasn't made for you.
You were made for me.
I was never made for you.

There's a very lovely lyrical quality to this and it is an achievement that you have managed to write an uncomplicated piece about complicated emotions.

So many writers produce poems on unrequited love and then dust them with saccharine. You have done well to resist falling into this trap. It's a tender, honest and heartfelt piece that reads very nicely indeed!

This poem is so sad. Almost makes me want to cry but I have done that enough over my loved ones already to give them more pleasure then they deserve. The feeling given off in this poem is so heart felt and sad, it kind of just makes me want to crawl in my own bed and curl up with the thought in mind. Yet the end, for some reason, does show promise that you will be able to let go of this past love and move on with your life. And with that promise to yourself, I can just see the fact that you will find someone great to live the rest of your life with. We are all ment for someone special, and I am sure you shall come across that person very soon if you havent already. Keep up the great work, and I shall keep reading!
