Ode To Cigarettes

Ode To Cigarettes

A Poem by not me

My views

 Don't ever let them,

Take away anything,

That makes you feel human.

The only thing,

The only thing,

In the pit of lies,

That I lie.

Among the residue of the years,

And the darkness,

And the tears,

And the ashes of my childhood.

The firts three line are a profound statement. Our personal freedom is being eroded by the state in small increments allegedly for our own good.Glad to see you feel rebellious too

Cigarettes. It's a volatile topic here at the moment with the ban and everything...

On the one hand my brain says to me "it's the sensible thing, it'll make people quit, it'll save lives, it'll..."

And then the other part of me, the part that is strongest and feels with the most strength, says "people should be free to do what they want..."

For a lot of people a cigarette is a part of who they are and, as you say, how can someone "Take away anything that
Makes you feel human"?

Simple poem, a little enigmatic (perhaps because it is things that are personal to you?). Overall I like it. Thanks for posting.
