Childhood

Childhood

A Poem by Jamie Taylor

Little girl staring out at the sprinkling rain

Why does it always have to ruin her day?

She was planning on going to the creek for a swim

Thinking of something to do, she felt her mind brim

She could play house, or dress in her moms clothes

Or act like a princess in a pretty dress that flows

Playing tea party sounded like a great plan

But that thought left her mind like garbage into a trash can

Her mind was dancing with things to play

Just picking one could take her all day

So she decided to take a nap, and play when she awakes

Hoping the rain would stop so she could play ducks and drakes

Her dream was filled with many things

From talking dogs to pigs with wings

She went on an adventure to a far away land

Even met a walking dog with an extra hand

She woke up to the sound of a shutting door

Her mom was home; the soft rain now a down pour

Looking outside, her heart filled with sorrow

I guess she will have to just wait until tomorrow.

You have a lovely imagination and sad the rain couldn't stop! But there's always something you can do no matter what the weather be.... good write! :)
