She Is Me

She Is Me

A Poem by Jamie Taylor

Who is that? That girl in the mirror?
Tears running down her delicate face
And blood streaming down her fragile arm
It’s like I don’t even know her anymore

Her eyes, so deep, like the ocean
I can look into her soul
I see all the pain… So much pain..
That inside she holds

I can see all she’s lost,
And everything she’s done
All she really wants
Is for the pain to just be gone

How hard she has tried!
Just to be happy!
But happy times were so long ago.
She cannot remember how

So instead of laughing, she cries
Tearss from her eyes and blood from her wrist
She always regrets doing it,
But unlike a video, life has no rewind

She wishes to go back a few years,
Before all this depression,
Before the crying, the heartbreak
Before this hell ever began

That girl. Who is she?
She keeps starring at me with eyes of sorrow
Blood and tears all mixed with shame
Who is she?

Well, that girl in the mirror.
She’s so sad, I can see
Who is that girl, you ask?
That girl.. She is me..

. i keep chanting the words "courage" and "resilience" ... these are tough times ... and so very complex ... that simplifying life seems like an insurmountable task ... but it's not ... this is beautifully written ...
