Chapter 1-The ExperienceA Poem by The AdventureJune 2008I held you so close; I was so naive. Should have known you had another, That you would inevitably leave. Your compliments brightened my
night Saying I was beautiful in every
way, "How special [I] really
[was]" Every little thing you say Your words to me mean a lot. And even now, they haunt me so And now it seems to me that all We must do is but separate and go. Both of us are different, But together we were close! You held me in your arms When I needed it the most. Three words, one night, you told me But I guess I misunderstood. I thought they meant something, That phrase that I once heard. Even now, my stomach still jumps At a picture of your smile. I just wish you could have stayed
with me Just for a little while. We first met not too long ago You were nervous, I was shy. I'm sad to know that now, After all, I say goodbye. I'll always remember the time You told me "What's on the
inside will stay" Now, I hold it dear, but, On my bed, crying, do I lay. My true feelings that I hide And may never reveal Burn at the thought of the other
girl Who your heart she did steal! Now, I know I'm not that pretty, But every night I do pray That one day, a guy like you Will come to take me away. Now, as I finish this up, A shaking hand do I use, Tears rolling down my cheek, My heart with a bruise, I thank God I met you. That you helped me find 'me,' And in my heart you'll always stay. And forever, there you'll be! © 2011 The Adventure |
