Maybe Me

Maybe Me

A Poem by LoneStranger

Maybe if I could read your mind

I would begin to understand mine.

I could see what you see,

comprehend how you perceive me.

Maybe then my life would be in perspective,

and I could stop being so apprehensive.

No more uncomfortable ill fits,

trying on skins is a habit I'd gladly quit.

Maybe then the course I steer

would seem straight and clear,

no bumps in the road ahead,

just keep moving forward 'til I'm dead.

Or maybe what you see in your perception

is all a terrible misconception

and if I become what you perceive

how could I ever understand me?

I'm sorry. This is amazing. It's a song though, not a poem. Can I record this and tweak it? I always ask. The first line is breathtaking. The second two lines are a little redundant because it connotes the same thing as the first two lines' implicit, but it's marginal. Trying on skins line is fabulous. The last two lines is the combination of executed perfection and eloquent consonance. Nice.

I'm new..which means I've basically been reading people's pieces...this was simply astonding and left me speechless. One of my favorites! I'd love to read more! You should add me, I love talented souls:)
