Rock Bottom

Rock Bottom

A Poem by LoneStranger
"

This poem is part of a short, ten poem collection title "Fantasy."

"

The straps cut into my feet

bleeding red against my pale,

cold flesh,

but the black silk feels soothing

as it caresses my marred skin,

like a bandage for my sins.

I can contain all of my disgrace,

hold it wrapped up tight

with no chance of escape

by the swirling strands of my hair.

Relief comes in an empty mind,

no thoughts running through my head.

I can forget,

can be something else

for just one night,

astray in the chaos.

I could be found,

but I know I’ll loose myself again,

when the dawn shines through

the bottom of that empty bottle

exposing me naked,

wrapped up amidst my fears

crying tears of shame

for my lost existence.

The last lines were so powerful and poignant to me that I find them almost echoing in my mind even as I write this. I find many a line in this poem resounds in my spirit so I feel a closeness to this piece.

I cannot critique it because it feels perfect as it is to me. Very, very nicely done fellow poet!
