Rivers

Rivers

A Poem by Mae Arrowood

All rivers must flow,
And there is a dam holding back every word I want to say to you,
Every letter, consonant, vowel, and period welled into one giant river,
The pressure is that of a hurricane,
Threatening to break the barrier, to drip through is too gentle of a description.
My thoughts would rip through you like a twig in a bulldozer's path,
Crush you like a flower under foot,
And curse you like black magic to a damned man.
Everything I have held back, shut in, and stopped up would finally break through and reach you.
Every time you have let me down and made me feel like s**t,
I held my tongue, but all dams break,
All silences end,
All hearts stop.
And when the dam breaks,
The water will not be sweet.

I like the way you are threatening someone and still keeping the patience ... awesome! :)
