OceansA Poem by Sarah Al JanabiAnother thought
The ocean is a crazy thing. It has its mood swings every single day, just like us.
In the morning, it's lazy, sleepy...still kinda drowsy. Heavy and yawning, radiating calmness. Persuading you to make your eyelids meet and stay together forever. Luring you into an infinite sleep. Smooth, rippling water as far as the eye can see. Almost no waves at all. The Morning water. At noon, the water suddenly vivifies. It feels alive, awake. Playful waves start forming. As if asking you to dive in and go for an underwater adventure. The temptation to jump in keeps intensifying. You can almost hear laughs and giggles emerging from the mischievous water, like kids playing in a park. The fun Midday water. Night. The most mystical of the lot. The sea suddenly looks out of bounds, ready to jump into action at any second. Dark, with no emotions, no life. It feels sinister. Ripples turn into kind of menacing waves. You dont dare to place even the tip pf your toe in the water. You know it's dangerous. You know that the sea can take your life if it wants to. It is much more powerful than we realise. The Mighty nocturnal water. © 2014 Sarah Al Janabi |
