Kisses

Kisses

A Poem by Sarah Flynn

Kisses pressed upon her breast

Scratches streaked across her thigh

I love you!

I roared

Passion screaming through my cries

Protect me

I love you

Find the fervor in my eyes

Don’t hurt me

I love you

This feeling won’t ever die

A look of defeat slapped across her face

Her gaze unwavering

Blackened by his touch

Stricken by his bite

The faintest quiver of her weakened arms

As she tries to push herself up

But anguish overpowers her might

And her body meets

The blood-splattered ground

Respect me!

I love you

You know that I do

But baby

I beg

Keep my purity true

Aren’t I worth more?

My heart greater than your lust?

I love you

Baby

I’m sorry, I digress

Her dignity diminished by that man’s awful smirk

Her worth left no greater than one of a w***e

She stared down at her thighs

Her broken chest

And blamed herself for letting her believe

In a man who thought of nothing but sex

I believe in you baby

I know you’ll keep me safe

But respect what I say

Don’t give up my youth

Where are you leading me?

What is this room

And what’s in this drink

That you tell me to consume

It burns my throat

And fogs my head

Where are we now?

What is this bed?

She pressed her back against the ground

And vowed to never

Never

Let the desires of a man

Destroy her soul

Or watch her vacant mind again be fooled

But alas her crumpled heart did not agree

Undermined by self-hatred

And his hideous grin

She shut her love from any person

And in return

Her heart shut off from her
