"Talking" and the HolidaysA Chapter by sarahbearaThis chapter is about the night that J.C. and I started "talking" again, as well as the winter holidays that we spent together.Throughout the remainder of that month, J.C. continued to invite me over randomly and quite frequently (one of the occasions was even on Thanksgiving). There were also times when we didn't end up hanging out, but did wind up texting one another for quite a while. As happy as I was about still getting to talk to him and hang out with him...well, I'm sure you can guess that I still wanted us to be so much more than what we were.
On the night of December 7, I texted him and asked him if we could start "talking" again and just see what happened. You can probably imagine my surprise, relief, and delight when his response was, "Okay, we can talk." I was absolutely ecstatic...and I prayed that someday soon, I would have the chance to become even more ecstatic when he was finally my boyfriend again.
I spent Christmas Eve with his family. My gift to him was a T-shirt and a can of Axe body spray, and from him, I received an absolutely gorgeous necklace with matching earrings. His parents, Amber, Josh, and I also exchanged gifts, and I adored everything that I received from them. My favorite "gift" that night, however, was the kiss, hug, and, "I love you, too, text me," that I got from J.C. when he walked me out to my car (it was raining, and I'm the kind of hopeless romantic who absolutely loves kissing in the rain, so as you can probably imagine, I was elated).
I got to see him shortly after the commencement of 2012 as well. I rang in the new year with my friend, Kaley, at her house (watching the New York City festivities on TV), and she shared in my excitement when I received a "Happy New Year" text from J.C. not long after midnight. We had texted earlier that evening as well and discussed me going to spend the night at the apartment; he eventually invited me to come hang out with him at his cousins' house in Lufkin rather than just waiting until he got to the apartment.
On the one-month anniversary of the day that I had convinced him to start "talking" to me again, I asked J.C. about the two of us taking the next step and getting back together. That ended up not happening, but I managed not to feel too upset about it. I guessed that he still needed time to figure things out...and reasoned that as long as he was still agreeing to continue "talking" to me, everything was okay. © 2012 sarahbeara |
