The (Second) Break-up

This chapter is about the second break-up that I had with J.C.

A week later, on October 25, I texted J.C. early in the morning and flat-out asked him what he wanted to do, clearly presenting the option of breaking up. I ended up falling asleep as I waited for him to reply, and when I woke up, I saw that he had done so about fifteen minutes beforehand. The message that I received from him read, "Yeah, we need to break up for now, sorry."

 

As you can probably imagine, I was absolutely heartbroken by this. However, rather than asking him a million questions and begging him to reconsider, I simply replied to his message by letting him know that I would like my belongings--he had the bandana that I had worn on our first date, several of my CDs, and my DVD copy of 'Justin Bieber:  Never Say Never'...as well as another possession of mine that I won't mention in favor of being ladylike--returned to me when he had a chance to do so. He replied that he intended to keep the unmentioned item and that the only other thing he had kept up with was the DVD. He also stated that "we can still be friends and might work out later on, but right now, I just need away."

 

I agreed to accept those terms, then asked if he would say it just one more time. He responded by asking me what I wanted him to say, and I responded, "That you love me." He did say it...and tearfully, I replied to the message with, "I love you, too."
