"Do you want to be my girlfriend?"A Chapter by sarahbearaThis chapter discusses when J.C. and I became an official couple.A little over a week later (after countless text messages, several more dates, and him being introduced to my parents and a few friends), on Sunday, April 10, I heard what are perhaps the second and third most adorable questions that I had ever been asked.
We were making the trip back to my house--hand-in-hand--after eating lunch at Alto's Dairy Queen when he suddenly looked at me and said, "So, what is our situation?"
With a giggle and a smile, I responded that I didn't know and asked him to tell me, to which he replied by telling me to tell him. The playful banter continued like so for a few more moments...and then, my ears were met by the next adorable question.
"Do you want to be my girlfriend?"
As you probably already guessed long ago, my answer to this question was, "Yes."
He pulled into my driveway and walked me up to my front door before hugging and kissing me good-bye and telling me that he loved me (as well as promising to be careful on his way home and to text me as soon as he could). My heart was doing backflips, somersaults, and just about every other wild, crazy little trick that it could have possibly been doing. With a smile on my face that stretched from ear to ear, I watched his truck until it disappeared from view and then bounced into the house to share the good news with my parents and to change my relationship status on Facebook.
I walked on clouds for the rest of that day...as well as for the majority of the next day. My happiness, however, was brought to a screeching halt when the element of change proved that it possesses an inevitable dark side. © 2012 sarahbeara |
