![]() Leslie: Day TwoA Chapter by BeautifulNightmare22
I wake up to a phone vibrating on the pillow under my fingers. I hear the faint pounding of rain on my window, over the soft piano music I left on the night before. I lay there staring at the window, not feeling like moving, at all. I finally turn my head to look at the clock. One in the afternoon, wonder why my mom didn't get me up. I hear a quiet knock on my door, I stare at it waiting for the person on the other side to reveal them self. The door slowly opens, I lay and watch as Ash closes the door as quietly as possible and walks over to me. "Your mom let me in" He says so quietly, if I had not been as relaxed as I was I wouldn't have heard it. As he walks closer to my bed, I can smell the faint sweet smell of rain on him.
"Did you walk here?" I attempted to ask but nothing came out of my mouth. He nodded and sat down on the edge of my bed.
"So, now that we're here alone..." I said after a while, "Will you tell me what's wrong?" I asked as I sat up. He moved closer to me and looked me in the eyes. "I'll do my best." He replied. I sat there staring at him expectantly, and he stared at the floor waiting for me to turn away, so I did. "For as long as I can remember, I've never had a normal, happy family, or house, like you have." He started, "When I was only five years old, my dad took me to one of his friends houses. I didn't understand it then, but he was buying illegal drugs from this guy. My parents had already divorced, so it was just me and him, on the run. The police broke down the door and came in. They handcuffed my dad and his friend and started taking them away. I screamed, wondering what they were doing with my dad, the only one that still loved me, I didn't know why they were taking him, or what was going to happen to me." Tears started running down his face just like yesterday. "You don't have to keep going if you don't want to." I suggested. "No, you need to know why I act how I do. After that, they gave me to my mom. It was all fine and dandy until I turned nine years old. By this time, she was getting tired of me, tired of taking care of me. So she told me she never should have given birth to me, and that I mattered to no one and didn't deserve to live. And I believed her, she was my mother, and she didn't even love me. So I ran up to my room and cried for hours. Once I cried all I could I just laid there, for days, only getting up to drink water and go to the bathroom. I wanted to lay there forever. It's gotten better, but even today, they both tell me I'm unimportant, and neither one of them love me." He finished and slightly smiled as he looked up at me, tears pouring out of his eyes now. "Now you know." I held him close to me just as I did the day before, until he stopped shaking. The rain cleared up so we went for a walk in the field. All the tulips and wild flowers had sprouted the month before, so the bright colored field lit everything up despite the dark gray rain clouds above us. "I have an idea" I said, breaking the silence. "What's that?" Ash asked curiously. "Let's go catch frogs!" I exclaimed my face lighting up with excitement. "Lead the way my dear!" Ash replied. © 2012 BeautifulNightmare22 |
