Grandpa

Grandpa

A Poem by sarah
"

well this is to my grandpa the last time i saw him

"

My heart thumbs louder and louder

stepping into a room full of strangers,

strangers that i know, but are a blur...

i see you sitting in your favorite lazy boy chair,

taking deep breaths in and out...

The strangers let me past them so i can be by you,

i touch your hand and i feel your hand twitch

your warmth brings these tears that wont stop coming, as i know this will be the last time i see you, and soon you will be cold.

y heart will never let go of you,

i hope yours will never let go of me even when it stops,

but as your hand starts to slipping away,

your breaths start to shorten.

I say i love you one last time,

not believing that this i really happening, like your not really slipping away

But as you take your last breath,

reality slaps me in the face with a loud scream coming from my mouth,

as you slip away...
