The conclusionA Chapter by lovebug
“You can take them off their not here”, Ramie said.
“Thanks Ramie”, Lana and I said in union. I couldn't help giggling but looking at Lana shaking, I knew she was still scared. Her eyes were wide open as if she had suddenly realized something. “Um” Lana said nervously, “is that why were running away?” “Yes, they want to keep us here until we have nothing left but dirt on our ground, so now do you get my point about running?” He said, but instead of looking at Lana, he looked at me.. “Yeah I do, your making us move because you can't tell them to censor off” I said, interrupting what Lana was about to say. “I hope I could, but to keep you safe, I can’t, were not the only ones who needs protecting anymore, we have you two now”. His voice was strong, booming, I could almost feel the vibrating as he continued talking. “We can’t take those chances", he said, looking out the window. “Look” I said raising my hand up, “I don't need someone to protect me, especially you Ramie”. “Suki you’re not as strong as you think you are, okay, and I'm also worried about your future, if you stay here you have none”. “Maybe I don’t want a future” I said, crossing my arms, voice low. “No Suki you don’t want a good one, now be quiet, we'll talk about this later”. “Why, because Mike’s here, because Johnny sleeping, no I want to talk about it now Ramie?!” I looked at Lana as she gently lifted up her shirt and took out Johnny. She cradled him and I realized he had woken up, and guilt surged through me but I didn't care, I was just so angry. “Look Suki”, he said, his voice getting louder, “those b*****s want money that they think we have, but we don't, how are we supposed to pay them something that we don't have, can you please tell me that?” “We would have thought of something, YOU always think of something” I whispered not giving up. “Yeah but we wouldn't have had enough time anyway”. “You said they'd wait forever, remember?” I said defiantly. “ Yeah Suki when I meant forever I mean they'd... Hurt me, Mike and then you'll guys have to pay them and so on, okay, let’s just get off this?” “Whatever”, I said, my arms crossed and tears forming. Johnny crawled to me and hugged me; look up at me with understanding in his eyes. I didn’t understand how a three year old could know things he wasn’t supposed to. I smiled at him as he was comforting me for the ride we were all about to take. I cradled him in my arms, waiting for him to fall back to sleep as I sang him lullabies I knew he enjoyed. © 2011 lovebug |
