Looking Through WindowsA Poem by WaitingOnTheStarsMy first creative writing poemA dark hidden man Walks down the long street Looking in all the windows Curious as to what he might see A dimly lit room Two spark the flame One secret night to love Bathed in the moons silent glow Pink toes smacking a hard wooden floor Daddy’s home to greet his little girl She flies into superman’s arms held wide Receives all her lovings and says goodnight Unpaid bills sitting on the kitchen table A mothers hands, fisted though tangled hair Just another cigarette, just one more drink A hidden child lays asking God, ‘please make it okay’ His belt hangs there still on the wall Until drunkenness takes over, it become his toy His children hide in fear, huddled close together Waiting for a man they never knew to appear A lost runaway takes shelter in a church Gone by day but back every night Before she lets sleep take her away she kneels Praying for a family and one of her own someday A mother sits rocking in her chair Her husband standing over her with love Their son’s hand lays gently on his mother’s round belly All their faces bare smiles, one perfectly happy family The man reaches his door, hangs his coat inside He squints at the lights as he glares at the empty chair Happy moments run through his head, the house stays grim He sits and waits day by day for the day they’ll be together again. © 2012 WaitingOnTheStars |
