“What was your old school like?” Heather asked with a small frown. They’d actually gotten some work done but David refused to talk about anything other then math.

Heather was still waiting for Kimberly to respond to her text message but Kimberly was ignoring her. It looked like she’d have to get her answers directly from David himself.

“Not good.” David said darkly, but then he looked at Heather and smiled. “Well I guess it was alright. I just think this school is better, at least the people are.”

Heather nodded her head as David’s frown deepened.

Heather opened her mouth and hesitated before she started talking. “When I was on your computer, I didn’t mean to but I accidently saw something…”

Heather trailed off as she saw an angry looking James walk into the library.

“You saw what?” David asked looking to where Heather was looking.

David stood up quickly when he saw James, “I’ll be right back.” He said as he and James stepped out of the Library together.

Heather kissed her teeth, and stood up. She went to the bathroom dialed a phone number with a look of disgust.

“Hello, this is a bit surprising. I didn’t think I’d hear from you again Heather.”

“Shut up Richard. I need to talk to Kimberly.”

“Oh and I thought you were getting back to our old business.” Richard said with a barely suppressed laugh.

“Where is she Richard?”

“She was at David Remington’s house last time checked but she probably went to her boyfriends right after.”

“Well that doesn’t help, I’m with both of them now.”

“Hey, Heather. There’s something you might want to know about the boys you’re hanging around.” Richard said carefully.

“I don’t want to know.” Heather said quickly.

“Oh, don’t lie to me Heather. We both know what kind of girl you are. And if you want to know where Kimmie is, all you’ll have to do is listen to me for just…”

“Goodbye Richard.” Heather said as she hung up her phone.

Heather left the bathroom only to find that David had packed up his stuff.

“What’s going on?” Heather asked noticing James’ dark expression.

“Have you seen or heard from Kimberly?” James asked standing up.

“No, why?” Heather asked slowly.

“Kimberly, was at James’ house.”  David said giving James a joyless smile. “And she left without her jacket, wallet or phone.”

“Why would she do that?” Heather asked quietly.

“I don’t know.” James said looking down. He looked guilty to Heather. David refused to look at James so he missed the expression.

Heather put her things away, and then pulled out her phone.

“Did you call her house?”

“Yeah, I did but she wasn’t there.” James said frowning. Heather shook her head, “If anything happened to her I’m holding you responsible.” Heather hissed at James. She spun around on her heel and pressed redial.

“I’m listening Richard, make it quick.”

Kimberly stirred her drink around and around. She looked up only once when Richard stood up to answered his phone.

When Richard came back, he sat down across from Kimberly.

“That makes us even right?” Kimberly said passively.

“Yup, here you go.” Richard said sliding the file of papers across the table. “That’s almost everything I have on your boyfriend and David.”

“Almost?” Kimberly asked rising her eyebrow.

“Yes, almost. I have to keep something to myself.” Richard said with a smile.

“Are you dating Heather?” Kimberly asked with a small smile.

“Hell no, I’m not. We’re just business partners.” Richard with a smile, “And she has something I want.”
