Unexpected beautyA Poem by SaraI don't normally write poems but this was for a class I had. I figured I should share it.Unexpected
beauty Switch
on Switch
off, switch on Switch
off, switch on, and switch off A story
can be told and yes it is overlooked underappreciated invisible and yet still
beautiful Us, we
are Blind, weak,
lost. Disoriented From the flick of a finger a stumbling
arm comes And
finds a savior Suddenly, Light…
and now We, See We see and become strong, and are
found. Focused Gone
now is the sightless hell, the missing light reestablished A Woods
invented this, this ability to control light, Now you known the name that made it, this
beautiful everyday thing Today Every
morning, night and electronic, burning midnight candle Has a
switch this beautiful thing brings to us what we
crave more than love, attention, light or even life it self It brings
us control, From it
we gain power of a city and the art of it too Patterns
from random windows envelope our city, with the skill of a simple light switch
we brought an artful life It
can also tell A STORY Yes a
story… how you ask? Well,
they say Light
switch on no light, you walk into…a place and flick a broken switch me. A layer
of dust covers my once golden, paint intricate
designs cover me, I wait to be polished and uncovered. The
once prestige and usefulness of myself is gone and now I deteriorate away, I
am the life and soul of the room, told in only 3 centimeter by 4 rectangle
square. I live in a old hotel, now an abandoned home, of mice. Another
switch another life switch off, ssh Sticky
prints of syrup, sweets and other candy I
stand short, so little hands can reach me, I am colored yellow green and blue,
and my jacket is changed every so often, from soft colors, to fishes then
trains and later gray. I am the changing light switch who grows with the
sleeping children Light
Switches are They
are Power Control Art A story And a dramatic
ending Switch
