TwoA Chapter by SaraKimberly's suspicious, what exactly is going on with James?
Kimberly frowns
as she bites into a fry. She glances over at James who winks and exposes her to
his charming smile. It does not fool
her; this time Kimberly can tell something is up. James has been
acting jumpy since they had left the tower.
Whenever he thought she wasn’t looking he checked his phone, she has the
sneaking suspicion he does not want to be here. “What’s going
on?” Kimberly asks feeling annoyed. “What do you
mean?” James smiles his trademark smile.
It’s not going to work on me this time. Looking out the window, she notices her
reflection had started to smile. She quickly covers her mouth with her hand. When she takes
her hand back the smile had disappeared. It’s only
then she notices more the James’ face in the reflection. He has his phone under
the table. Kimberly
thought he might be cheating, and she was pretty sure it’s with that s**t she
used to call a best friend. Heather. “Who are you
talking to? Is it Heather?” Kimberly
feels her neck warm with anger.
Kimberly
doesn’t look at him directly. Instead she watches his reflection in the window.
For a split
second James looks shocked before he suppresses a smile. “What are you talking
about?” he mumbles absently a smile playing across his lips.
“You’re
obviously talking to someone under there.” She hisses grabbing his arm. “Tell
her good night, already.” James just
shakes his head there is a spark of amusement in his eyes that made Kimberly pause.
Kimberly
knows he was tired of her jealously but she couldn’t shake the feeling James
was playing her. “I’m getting
sick of you lying to me James.” She hates everything about James but she knows
it wouldn’t last. She couldn’t stay mad at him for long, especially when she
isn’t sure. “I wasn’t
lying,” he says lifting his phone on the table. ‘I was actually trying to get
your wallet back. David had it.” “He stole it!” Kimberly says angrily. “That
guy is so creepy. Did you see the way he was staring at us? He was look-”
Kimberly trails off, noticing James’ marked expression. “What’s wrong?” “It’s not
like that; he found it in the lobby.” “Oh. Are you guys
friends or something?” “Yeah, kind
of.” “Oh.” Could James…nah. Kimberly shakes her head; they had been dating
for months. He wouldn’t, no one would do that for so long. She ate another
fry, just to do something. She felt an awkwardness she doesn’t quite understand.
Maybe she doesn’t want to understand.
