Impressions

A Poem by Kara Emily Krantz

My fingers are like fireflies

In the skies, and when I look

Into your eyes

I can't disguise the way

I feel.

My skin is like a lake

I ripple / I quake

You give me the shakes, and yet always,

I heal.

My heart beats like a drum

Pulling down the sun,

Making the buffalo run...

Isn't this fun?

We're making music.

As God as my sovereignty,

You bring me down to my knees

In piety.

And here comes society?

Let's lose it.

My eyes are like flowers,

They open with the morning showers.

I count the minutes / count the hours

Until Daybreak.

My dreams are like apparitions,

Like unsigned petitions.

I dream for what I'm wishing...

Then I wake.

Very lovely. Your writings always make feel like there are hidden meanings to the words you write. Like i have before I could just be me, but every time I read one I see something other than the words on the page. I love this one was great. Written perfect. If you want to know what I thought was going on in this piece let me know.

Now this is very intriguing my dear... it has a bit more of a mysterious feel to it then a lot of your work but I really like it... I feel someone who is trying to break free from a dream they know will never come true and yet still seem to find themselves constantly still hope it will and lost in thought about it... whether I'm right or wrong the poem is written with the same grace and charm that makes all work full of compassion and intellectual stimulus.

My eyes are like flowers
They open with the morning showers

Such a brilliant line.

I love the last stanza too.
Apparitions-Petitions is a great rhyme.

I dream for what I'm wishing...
Then I wake.

Don't you hate that feeling, after a great dream, when you realize that a dream was all it was.
Such a heartbreaking realization.
I've actually thought to myself that I'd rather go back to sleep and dream more than face real life without my wish coming true.

I hate to be picky after such an amazing poem but I think buffalo has two Fs.

Such a great poem.
Great job.

Kara, Two poems in one. I like how you took the last line of each stanza, and made another poem out of them. As always, your work is wonderful. Thanks for sending it to me.

This was a fun piece to read, I really enjoy your writing.I love the little notes of sarcasm and wit that you have pulled nicely together here.Like the idea of losing society. Society is at a loss regardless.lol great fun.

this was so different from your usual things in a subtle way! i haven't quite read anything like it, honestly. very inspiring. and i liked the mood that it gave off- very light, very springy. at least, thats how it was for me.

I have difficulty writing reviews for your poems... they're so beautiful; they speak for themselves so well. When will there a book of collected writings? Is there one? I'd like to buy one and hand it down to my future children, grandchildren and on and on. Better yet, an accompanying album of you reading them. It's as though your words are like hands around my heart, drawing out the emotions inside... authentic, indeed.
