your little red onesie

your little red onesie

A Poem by Kara Emily Krantz

in your red little onesie
i could hug you forever
listen to you ramble through
bedtime stories
[jibberishjibberish]
(giggle here and there)
until we pass out on the floor
in an abyss of drunken abc's.

i'll fill up your sippy cup with
chocolate milk
until you smile mocha
and i'll dance around the room
[like a fool]
to make you laugh.

i'll lift you up and spin you around
[again! again!]
until you're dizzy and i'm dizzy
and we're dizzy, because
i just want to hear your hysterical shrieks
of pure
unadultured
JOY.

and your little red onesie
is so ridiculous
i could cry.

you smell of everything innocent
and pure.
yes
you smile and i remember
what i live for.

these precious moments
of happiness and
grace.

i'll tuck you in
and bundle you up
only to have you
get up
[to hug me]

i'll tuck all the covers in
(once again)
to your chin;
kiss your cheeks
and whisper of love.

cuz your red little onesie
is what happiness is made of.

This is just precious! The images that you show us here are more than beautiful, they are heartwarming and tender, honest and passionate. There is nothing quite like the joy of being in the precense of true innocence; being loved fully and completely without boundaries...the love of (and for) a child. I'm quite impressed with how you took the idea and the image of the "little red onesie" and carried it through the piece subtlely. You're quite the master, my dear! A beautiful write!

As the father of three children, I must admit the smell coming from those onsies are not always so fragrent (LOL-sorry!) But I must say that you have captured the beauty of being able to act like a child when you are with your child. As my kids grow up and start their own lives, the moments of foolish frivolity become fewer.

Reading this piece certainly brought a smile to my face. Thank You for sharing it with us.

I though this was precious, and illustrates the world through not only yours but a child's eyes too. Gee, I miss my kids. T

Cute. And well written. Onesies ARE ridiculous. Ridiculously adorable.

And to think I felt like this about more than one baby at the same time. Imagine how much and how hectic my life was. I still have the kids jump all over me all day long. To me, there is no feeling like being a father, like knowing your love matters, and that you are loved for who you are, not for how much you can give or possess. Oh, I love this high-spirited poem. I think I am going to buy a big onesie so you can babysit me, too. lmao

Hammie has a onesie he uses on special occasions. (No comment!) ;-)

Babies and toddlers are so cool! reading this brings back tender memories of not so long ago,
also makes me think about making another, but The ones I already have are enough. Still treasures in their own right, just out of that stage. Nothing smells better than a baby!

you tug at heart strings with this piece.

I love babies, absolutely adore them from infancy to two. I like them past that also but nothing is more special than when they are younger. This was a wonderful portrait of baby love and I enjoyed every minute of each word. Nice write.

That was quite the adorable poem, dear. I could imagine one of the kids I watch and relate very much so. A little different and very much enjoyed.

Aw... so cute... and soo true. I love the use of adding in what the child does. It's adorable. I love and live for children, so this totally speaks to me. Love it :) Gillzy x
