in your red little onesie
i could hug you forever
listen to you ramble through
bedtime stories
[jibberishjibberish]
(giggle here and there)
until we pass out on the floor
in an abyss of drunken abc's.
i'll fill up your sippy cup with
chocolate milk
until you smile mocha
and i'll dance around the room
[like a fool]
to make you laugh.
i'll lift you up and spin you around
[again! again!]
until you're dizzy and i'm dizzy
and we're dizzy, because
i just want to hear your hysterical shrieks
of pure
unadultured
JOY.
and your little red onesie
is so ridiculous
i could cry.
you smell of everything innocent
and pure.
yes
you smile and i remember
what i live for.
these precious moments
of happiness and
grace.
i'll tuck you in
and bundle you up
only to have you
get up
[to hug me]
i'll tuck all the covers in
(once again)
to your chin;
kiss your cheeks
and whisper of love.
cuz your red little onesie
is what happiness is made of.
This is just precious! The images that you show us here are more than beautiful, they are heartwarming and tender, honest and passionate. There is nothing quite like the joy of being in the precense of true innocence; being loved fully and completely without boundaries...the love of (and for) a child. I'm quite impressed with how you took the idea and the image of the "little red onesie" and carried it through the piece subtlely. You're quite the master, my dear! A beautiful write!
"i'll fill up your sippy cup with
chocolate milk
until you smile mocha" I really like this line. It reminds me of how little kids always get chocolate moustaches from milkshakes :) It's a very sentimental and sweet piece of poetry!
I'm a parent myself, and I can relate to this.
This writing is wonderful, and descriptive, and this really makes me smile and wish that my little one was, well, that little again!

Children are so precious and this poem speaks of that in such a vivid picture. Bravo on showing the world the picture of precious children since most seem to have forgotten.
Completely brought smiles to this stone-like face. Thank you, a very soft and loving poem about what is truly amazing and so beautiful. Love your work Kara Emily Krantz!
I am resolved to never be content with the lives of "quiet desperation" which so many of us lead, to continuously challenge myself, and forever walk in Beauty.
I like pandas. I like writing poe.. more..
