I want to touch you with my words…
Watch them skim across your skin.
Sigh as the shivers of your breath
Inhale and breathe them in.
There’s a need within my breast
Begging for sweet reprieve;
My words, they fall and filter through you
Like sunshine through the leaves.
I want to move you with the soft
Slow hymn of my heart.
In part, I want to please you
(or perhaps just to tease you…)
But in the end I want you satisfied,
By all the words you hold inside.
The words I place upon your palm
As my eyes, they whisper a silent psalm.
I want to woo you with my words
(watch them lay peaceful upon your smile)
Beguile you awhile with the cadence of my ways
I want to touch you with my words…
Until there’s nothing left to say.
Very nice use of a religious undertone to a sensual poem.
I really like the imagery in the lines:
"My words, they fall and filter through you
Like sunshine through the leaves."
Very beautiful writing here. Nice how you make conversing with someone such an intimate thing. Too often we don't really communicate. I enjoyed this write.
This is a nicely written piece. Mechanically, it has a sound and easy flow with good rythem, and I also like the way that you threw in a little rhyme here and there. The only suggestion that I have is to reduce the use of the word "words"...it shows up quite a lot for such a small poem, and especially in the second to last stanza it became noticeable.
As far as the idea of "touching someone with your words"...very powerful. I've used that idea lightly in some of my poetry as well, because it is just so empowering and beautiful at the same time.
"The words I place upon your palm
As my eyes, they whisper a silent psalm."--great lines!
As I began to read this, I was overcome with a strong sense of Deja Vu, a feeling that I do not often feel...only once in a blue moon these years.
And besides the deja vu, a feeling that the sentiment is familiar to me. I've often thought the same thing. How by mere words or music, I could disarm a person, overcome a person...how my desire is to command language in a way, that wields real power.
well written. A nice cadence to this piece and good flow.
I am resolved to never be content with the lives of "quiet desperation" which so many of us lead, to continuously challenge myself, and forever walk in Beauty.
I like pandas. I like writing poe.. more..
