I want to touch you with my words…
Watch them skim across your skin.
Sigh as the shivers of your breath
Inhale and breathe them in.
There’s a need within my breast
Begging for sweet reprieve;
My words, they fall and filter through you
Like sunshine through the leaves.
I want to move you with the soft
Slow hymn of my heart.
In part, I want to please you
(or perhaps just to tease you…)
But in the end I want you satisfied,
By all the words you hold inside.
The words I place upon your palm
As my eyes, they whisper a silent psalm.
I want to woo you with my words
(watch them lay peaceful upon your smile)
Beguile you awhile with the cadence of my ways
I want to touch you with my words…
Until there’s nothing left to say.
What a beautifully rendered piece. I really liked how you kept changing the rhyme pattern, managing to make the transitions smoothly rather than jarring. As result, this poem's hypnotic rhythm slithers like a snake, turning in one direction and then its opposite in order to move purposely forward. Your word choices are all flawless, not one syllable out of place, each stanza expanding on the overall theme while also standing out nicely on their own, almost making this a poem constructed out of several mini poems. Sensuously conveyed longing that grips the reader immediately and never lets go. Nicely done. I'm impressed.
Very Emily Dickenson like! Simple, sweet, powerful, meaningful. Loved it. I love your town too. Its a great village feel......we can meet up halfway in the Berkshires sometime! Ever been to Edith Wharton's home in Lenox? If you want a new poet friend, let me know! Cheers, Farrah

This poem is sweet. It has a rhythmic flow and it kinda makes me dreamy. I felt the words flowing over me so perhaps they are meant to "skim across" the skin of all. Its really lovely Kara. Truly.
Kara, words are like tears, they reveal the deepness of what and who we are, they are essential in a lasting relationship. Reading your work shows me how deep a person you must be.
I am resolved to never be content with the lives of "quiet desperation" which so many of us lead, to continuously challenge myself, and forever walk in Beauty.
I like pandas. I like writing poe.. more..
