all night journeying

all night journeying

A Poem by Kara Emily Krantz

i spent all night journeying
to the center of
my soul.

the tears i tasted there
were salty
with despair.

and the petals of my heart
were
fall-
ing.

[it's not fair, but true.
how my heart loved you].

i spent all night journeying
to the depths of
my seas.

and swam through the waters
of the deepest parts
of me.

[what i found was hope
and delicate pieces of
purity]

i spent all night journeying
to the sweet fragrance
of an embrace.

the taste of another's lips
reminds me
i still breathe.

[and my grieving heart
is allowed a moments time
to exhale the pain
it holds inside.]

Here we go again another powerful and heartbreaking poem that is so amazing in it's structure and words...

Oh I love your comparing the serenity of swimming in the ocean to that of rediscovering a part of you lost from loving someone as you find the sunken treasures of self love and inner piece deep inside allowing you to the strength to move on.

One of the most talented writers I have ever read... EVER!!

This is incredible. You really have a knack for knowing where exactly to put line breaks...the way they are placed really helps the reader feel the pain in the lines because every time your eye has to move down, you have to reflect a little bit on the words in the previous line. I especially think it is done well at the end...

[and my grieving heart
is allowed a moments time
to exhale the pain
it holds inside.]

So awesome. Great work.

That one really hit home... I stopped for nearly five minutes, going through the cascade of thoughts and emotions evoked by that, especially within the context of the whole poem. Beautiful, once again.

"Better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all." Fie on that! I really like this poem. Your work is very introspective and I'm jealous that you can disect yourself so clearly and expose it to everyone. Bravo, my dear!
