i pull you close and breathe you in (and everything else slips away)

i pull you close and breathe you in (and everything else slips away)

A Poem by Kara Emily Krantz

on a crowded street
when I press you close (to me)
and kiss you, there
on the place where
the lobe of your ear
curves down to your neck

i still feel
the earth stop
for a moment

and it is only you, there
(with me)

I breathe you in deep
and I'm suddenly weak,
and I want to whisper "baby-
nobody but you
does this to me."

they call it a chemical reaction
but that's a mere fraction of the things
I feel for you.

the years have taught me that few things
-really- matter
and even less of them last
but your skin against my lips
reminds me real fast

how the heart can still awaken
after being put to sleep
and the earth can still stop
(for a moment)
and allow me to breathe.

when you weave your fingers through my hand
and I feel the warm rough texture of your skin
I want to lean into the scent
of you.

and stay.

they call it physical attraction
but that's too simple a way
to describe what is here
(in the air between us)

so I wrap my arms inside the folds of your jacket
and nestle into the curve of your neck
-to heck with it all-
I say

I'm going to stay here (with you)
and breathe you in
all day.

Kara, my Karabear. The essence of someone, sometimes the strongest draw they hold for us.

I apologize I have the highest fever I have ever experienced in my life today, so my review may suck, but I want you to know I love this piece, and, corny as it may sound, I'm breathing you right in. :)

Miss you, my darling, and love you very much...

This is really lovely.

One line I am having trouble with: "the earth still stops for a moment ". I know you mention it again later in the piece, and it works there. But in this instance, I would say "the earth stops still for a moment".

That's just my opinion. On the positive, I could feel the tenderness you are portraying, and send the quietness in the setting. The words held an image of a couple quietly holding hands, no words needed between them because everything they need to say is already being felt.

Kara .... this is really sweet. The simple pleasurable moments of love that should never be taken for granted. You recognize the importance of these moments and relay them with such a delicate touch. Great job !

Oh Kara this is some of the deepest and passionate work I've read... You have taken my breathe away with this one

how the heart can still awaken
after being put to sleep
and the earth can still stop
(for a moment)
and allow me to breathe.

these words alone are incredible... yes it is a miracle when a lonely heart that has all but given up can beat in the name of love again.

But the whole thing is so beautiful as you show what great thing love can do when you let yourself get lost in it.

AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING!! Another fav of mine.
