shattered resolve

shattered resolve

A Poem by Kara Emily Krantz
"

7/10/04

"

The dance

by which our fingers

traverse each other's palms.

The iris

of our eyes

[a blossoming psalm].

The silence

by which our words

whisper through like smoke.

The stones

called our hearts

[shivered] and broke.

Funny how when the romantics heart is won, no matter how great the lover, they are still shattered. If not for the drama queen of them all The Human Heart, this poem and it's forty beat per minute pulse would not take us with it, kicking and screaming. Shattered you say, RESOLVE you say, say it again, come on say it again... I dare ya. This poem taunts.

great form and leading our eyes gently to each new picture. i like this piece.

should iris be irises? just a technical question.

this strikes me as a poem about reconnecting despite past hurt. pulling down inner walls through simple touch and looks and words.

I like this Kara - it speaks to me of a kind of loving that could turn into true love given time and space to grow.
The dancing fingers on each others palm -- an imvitation
The blossoming psalm of the iris of the eyes -- a strong sexual attraction
The silence of unspoken words mere whispers through smoke, so clear yet -- an unspoken acceptance
The stones called our hearts shivered and broke -- two loney, hurt people meet, are attracted to each other, offer each other the gift of loving.

It also tells me with the heart shiver and broke that there could be hope for these these two people.

It could also tell of a forbidden love - two people who care deeply about each other are hurting - their hearts are frozen because they can't be together and although the desire is strong they deny it and so broke the stones that are called the hearts.

A good piece of mind blowing writing that has more questions than answers - leaving the readers with the choice of believing as they please.

Really good Kara - so much said in so few words.

Keep writing - you have real talent

PS - don't you just hate it when the review is longer than the poem?

Even with your short pieces you leave me breathless with you intoxicating way of showing emotions... I feel that of love that is timeless. I would say more but i am at a lose for words, this is stunning in it's simplicity and sweetness.

Enjoyed the line breaks, they gave it a nice choppy pacing. What an awesome image you present here:

"The silence
by which our words
whisper through like smoke."

When I think about this I can see soft voices floating then extinguishing. And thank you for the review on Empty Nest, I'm glad you enjoyed it! :-)
