shattered resolve

shattered resolve

A Poem by Kara Emily Krantz
"

7/10/04

"

The dance

by which our fingers

traverse each other's palms.

The iris

of our eyes

[a blossoming psalm].

The silence

by which our words

whisper through like smoke.

The stones

called our hearts

[shivered] and broke.

Funny how when the romantics heart is won, no matter how great the lover, they are still shattered. If not for the drama queen of them all The Human Heart, this poem and it's forty beat per minute pulse would not take us with it, kicking and screaming. Shattered you say, RESOLVE you say, say it again, come on say it again... I dare ya. This poem taunts.

I don't know if the hearts broke because of pain, or because of the trembling...but that is what makes this so beautiful. Very good!

Each stanza creates an entire scene for the reader to digest. My favorite lines: "The silence by which our words whisper through like smoke." It was my own personal imagination that kept me on those lines creating my own visualizations from there. Great use of words in an economist fashion.

A beautiful dance of words with a flowing selection of text.

The iris of our eyes...... (a blossoming psalm)

This line is a poem of it's own. The eyes are our windows to our souls. You pull this out. In our eyes, you convey the psalm present. How unique and thought provoking.

Wonderful!
Frankly speaking, I like its formatting the most :D :D
But yeah! It is indeed a great write, very much vivid and full of raw emotions.
"The stones

called our hearts

[shivered] and broke." Awesome work! :)

The last stanza has quite an impact due to the contrast between stone and the silence, iris, and dancing fingers of the preceding stanzas....very effective. I like the format a lot....this is an excellent poem, Kara.

Wow, dancing, Iris, silenced, and the stone what a combination about the art of expression that lifts the imagination to feel and conceal the heart behind the walls of flaking stones. One can only wonder how you could write such a short poem with so much substance. Nice write

passionate read. But I feel to truly understand the poem, I would want to know your thought process when you wrote it.
