the company we crave

the company we crave

A Poem by Kara Emily Krantz
"

I suppose this is sort of an extention of "the company we keep"... with the focus on a romantic partner.

"

To find someone who cannot only hear

-but understand-

the beating of my heart.

Who will start to smile when I laugh

and be happy

for all the gifts I have.

A person with honesty (and just enough tact)

who isn't afraid of change.

A person who is strange enough to tint the world

a different shade

and strong enough to take words back.

A man with a soul as grounded as the earth

and a mind as open as the sea.

A man naive enough to believe in beauty

and the depth of his dreams

yet disillusioned (just enough)

to set him free.

To find someone with curiosity,

who wishes to discover

secret truths.

And a laugh that could shiver the streams.

A man with the seams of his heart prepared to burst

and the quiet confidence of one at peace.

A man with an aura of gentleness and grace

and the sturdy strength of a forest green.

Someone who will lean into the curves

of my embrace

and lace crimson whispers in my ear.

To find someone...

oh, to find someone.

To find him and keep him here.

I am stunned at your capacity for precision...expressing thoughts, longings, wants from multiple vantage points, yet always penetrating the heart of the issue with pinpoint accuracy.

Incredible...'lean into the curves of my embrace...' TS Eliot move over...!
Every line is a new, crystal clear revelation...even 'the forest green...' ;)

My brand new favorite...

Thank for your wonderful work!

A very touching and intelligent write. The perfect romantic match. I am looking for someone very old, very wealthy and very generous, with no children. lol

Stunning. I am stunned. I think you describe the kind of man (real) women want to be with and that (real) men strive to be. I found myself agreeing wholeheartedly with this poem. I think such men truly do exist; some women are just fortunate enough to cross paths with them, whereas others are not. I was entranced by the lines here.

A person who is strange enough to tint the world
a different shade.

A man with a soul as grounded as the earth
and a mind as open as the sea.

Someone who will lean into the curves
of my embrace
and lace crimson whispers in my ear.

These are just a few of the lines I especially loved. I can't post them all. It's an exercise in redundancy to post the entire poem in my reply! :)

You truly have created a marvelous work, one that I think others should see. In fact, I think I'll put this one in my favorites and then invite some friends to see this. Thanks so much for sharing.

Ah, it seems you describe a perfect man here, one we may all strive to be, but never will
'A man with a soul as grounded as the earth, and a mind as open as the sea'
That is so beautifull, but the two opposites, so hard to achieve.
Did you reference the wc's own F.G. for he is well deserving, but could be coincidence
I LOVE THIS, I hear you calling, you are so soulfull
Always smiling at you

Oh, how beautiful. When you find him, you won't have to "keep' him there, there is where he'll want to be!
Very nice piece!

Your words move me. You are a woman of great depth, but more important to this forum you are a woman of great talent.

The theme is established:
To find someone who can not only hear
-but understand-
the beating of my heart.

Then expanded:
A person with honesty (and just enough of tact)
who isn't afraid of change.
A person who is strange enough to tint the world
a different shade
and strong enough to take words back.

Brilliant expression of noble desire. This poem makes me want to be a better man. :-)

I love this! "strong enough to take words back", "disillusioned enough to be free". This is beautiful, I think in part because it is so specific. I can tell you put a lot of thought into this.

This is a dope write. I feel like you should be putting this to an acoustic guitar or something. Definitely worth recording...
