i have to giggle a little

dare i to touch her?
my webbed feet in silent plea,
beg her... to love me.

I have to tell you, the title alone forced me fight back an awww and I'm not the kind of person who says that...but still I trudged on, machete in hand to bridle my emotions...anyway...love this haiku...there is a tender sweetness to this and I didn't feel like saying awww, but now I want a baby duck for a pet. :)

A suitably springlike haiku that I am compelled to describe as 'squishy'. That's a postive by the way. It reminds me of the time when my dog accidentally killed a baby duckling while playing with it and then the next day, in a totally separate place, I was able to rescue a baby duck that had overturned in a puddle and was drowning. There was strange justice in that!

i think this poem works whether it is a (or is it an) haiku or not. i could just see the duckling casually grazing his little foot onto hers and impishly peering into her eye for a sign, a glimmer of hope. very well done!
