Windswept

Windswept

A Poem by Kara Emily Krantz
"

inspired by this picture of my friend, Jess

"

she feels alive
[today]

perhaps it's in the way
he smiles against her neck
and she deliriously / deliciously
breathes in his scent.

these moments are merely lent to us...
a voice inside her whispers
as she slips off her slippers
and falls into the sea.

but [today] she feels alive
and all such a feeling implies.
it tickles inside her fingers
and lingers
at the tip of her tongue.

she's happy today
[happy to be young]

she's alive like the wind,
amd the way it kisses her skin.

she's alive with the memory
of these moments
with him.

Kara;
I thought I would look at your work as well. This poem reminds me of how "we" used to be; way back when. Before life got in the way.
This is a very touching and beautiful piece. I hope you were the one to be that happy.

Love this. I really love it when someone can write about other peoples emotions and/or storys. My friend Tiffany wrote one about me... At first I thought it was wierd. Then I read the piece. It was amazing, and for the same reason I really dig this one. I love the atmosphear set here too.

That picture is beautiful. Your poem is perfect for it, and only augments the beauty and simplicity that is found in the picture. I've told you about a million times that I love your style, but I do! I love it! Even without seeing the image, you paint such a beautiful picture with your words. It has so much depth to it with such simple language. Your use of rhyme is really great. It does nothing to detract or distract, it is just well-placed, and I love it.

"he smiles against her neck"

beautiful.

Oh, wow! I got shivers as I read this. I absolutely love how you tie everything to a fleeting moment and never tempt us to believe that such moments are forever. This goes in my favorites.

these moments are merely lent to us...

....if only everyone could understand that people are also loans from the universe, and no one owns the soul of another.

Beautiful words from a sort of sacred moment between your beautiful friend and her love, a gift also, to eachother; their inspiration a gift to you, and your inspiration a gift to me.

Hey Kara,
I had to go and put on Neil Diamond's "Delirious Love" from his new album "12 Songs" to play in the background while I read this. Just like you can't listen to the song just once, you can't read this poem just once!

"She slips off her slippers and falls into the sea!" splendid.
