Suddenly You

Suddenly You

A Poem by Kara Emily Krantz

Days pass
[without you in them]
both in presence and in mind—
you are gone.

There is a vacancy in my heart…

I start to smile with the thought
of all the beautiful ways
I can fill it.

Until one day
[one blissful day without your ghost beside me]

I look up and
Suddenly you
are there.

Your physical presence
throws me off kilter.

I am the sieve through which you filter.

You swim through my veins.
How can a moment so different
feel exactly the same?

It always was and always will be
this way—
Many empty yesterdays
[tomorrows much the same]
but briefly, belatedly,

Suddenly you
were in Today.

"I am the sieve through which you filter" LOVE IT.

I am a sucker for poems about love, so this was a very enjoyable read. I love the way you molded the words to show a feeling of being and wanting in such a short poem.

I love reading your writing. Sometimes I just melt...

i enjoyed this poem because i can relate and believe many people can relate to similar situations. If you write a piece that people can relate to usually it can go much further.

This reminds me of something that happened in my passed... After years of being apart from my first love, I ran into him at the sidewalk-chalk-art festival in San Luis Obispo. It was completely unexpected and totally threw me for a loop...all of the things that I thought I had forgotten came flooding back as fresh as though they had happened the day before. So...this is one of the reasons that I like this piece so much; I could relate to it in a very personal way, and it stuck with me even after I finished the piece. Nice work!

I love how this line stands on its own, but relate to the first line in the last stanza. I could even feel him there. I almost wanted to be gay for like a half of a second. Very good work.
