Do You Remember?

By Alasse Fefalas

Do you remember
How you smiled at me
Do you remember
How you talked to me

Those days are long gone
Now we are at war
Now I am torn
Who do I fight for

My country where I live
And my friend whom I fight
Should I take my leave
Don't know who is right

I still remember
How you smiled at me
I still remember
How you talked to me

Our lives so carefree
Filled with fun and laughter
Two, never three
Before and after

Somehow I knew
That it would be our last
Our battles so few
But it was never fast

Do you remember
How you smiled at me
Do you remember
How you talked to me

At each other's throats
We were aiming for
Blood splattered were our clothes
Each other's blood it bore

The deadly final strike
Showed us our destiny
Truly we were alike
Together we would be for eternity

You still remember
How you smiled at me
You still remember
How you talked to me

Thank for remembering
How you smiled at me
Thank you for remembering
How you talked to me.

hmmm. Maybe just that last stanza could be simplified to something like "If you do, then thank you" I dont know though. It's a good poem I really enjoyed it, it is such a shame to see friends forced to battle. Nice write Alasse.
