I seek

I seek

A Poem by Santulan
"

Written when i was parting with some great friends

"

From the darkness that lies dormant within my heart,

To the holy light of friendship you spill upon my every part.

From the days of victory, success and joy,

To the ones of loss, distress, and being treated like a small boy.

I seek something desperately that I need to survive.

From all the highs, lows, ups & downs,

To all the other things too that didn’t count.

From all the things that felt as if it took days,

To all the time that disappeared in a haze.

Someone out there saw too it that what I seek , I do find.

To prevent my life from going into an uncontrolled trance,

To prevent my thoughts from being only stray bangs,

To prevent myself from being just another disposable freak,

A balance in my life is what is what is seek.

Thank you oh dear friend for helping me find how much ever of what is still do seek!

There are too many abstract words here that make the poem unfocused -- the holy light of friendship, victory, success, joy, distress ...
To the ones of loss, distress, and being treated like a small boy - in this line "being treated like a small boy" is so in contrast with "loss" and "distress."
To all the other things too that didn't count./From all the things that felt as if it took days, -- replace "things" with specific words that will paint images.
You seem to be telling more than showing in this piece.

You've captured so well what it's like to have to part ways with a friend. The things that they leave with us and also the things that they make us realize we are still searching for. Strong write.

another disposable freak. That line really hits me strong. Parting ways is so difficult any time we do it. I loved the ryhme in this one - it is hard sometimes to write serious and still ryhme but you did well in this one.
