Shadows

Shadows

A Poem by Haruki
"

The lighter side of darkness.

"

The shadow of a bird moves across a meadow

Gliding gracefully, the shadow ripples over hedges and brooks then vanishes into sunshine

Expansive wings and crooked neck

Here is no Great Blue Heron

The shadow of a man moves through a crowd of people in the market

Weightless, dark, transparent

Around corners, between buildings

The shadow changes form to each thing it meets

No one notices

Wow! That was captivating. I often face difficulty in deciphering the meaning out of such well-written poetry that I have to read it a couple of times. It goes same for yours...lolz
I wish, my english would soon improve....*sigh*
Back to the poem...
Excellent writing!! Very well-written. The images your words produced picked me from my seat and took me off into the air where I saw the bird and the man....
Great Job!!

i really like this... so true not all shadows are scary... and actually sometimes we can make them out to be more then they are. A very cool write.

To think of a man's shadow as a blank reflection of his true self is to pondering the meaning of nature itelf, you show how a shadow is nothing more than shell, not only lacking a soul of its own but is found to be absent until the light from the creator passes beyond the source of its maker. I really enjoy the sweeping imagery in motion that sets the reader's heart flying above valleys and trees, flying into the sunset with a majestic sense of becoming one with all, and in comparision you have a man walking down the street, between building, and its shadow does nothing more than
blanket a sidewalk filled with grit and grime, and the ambience of a smoggy city,
I really think the flow captured the visual as well as pondering concept perfectly.
Take Care, Mike

Whimsically complete. I enjoyed this poem.

Especially the 'Great Blue Heron' as they populate my field.

Nice work...

I enjoyed the first stanza,
though was more taken by the second..
it is intruigingly eerie..

No one notices -- this shadow of a man,
lurking amongst them. Changing forms...
Wow. I'm drawn to the image..

I like this. You've created a very compelling picture
in the mind of the reader...

Well done!
