" When Mommy's called to Heaven"

By:

"Sandra Rains DeBusk"

Listen to me, my children

Mommy wouldn't lie

I want you full of happiness

On the day I die

I don't want to know your weeping

or know that you're in pain, my loves

I don't want you to hurt in the least

For I'm with the white winged doves

I ask that you just bury

my broken down remains

For I no longer need them

My soul is free from pain

I wish you all the happiness

that you can possibly stand

I wish you comfort from the hurt

For pain was not part of my plan

You know you have meant

the world to me

You are all I ever dreamed

I've always cherished you all, my kids

And I know that you

Loved me

So, listen to me, my children

I want you to go on

I want you to be all you can

until your life is done

Then tell your own children

what I have told you

Make your leaving easier

for them to get through

Know that if I had my choice

I'd stay right here with you

But God is giving me the time

to build a room for you

So, when it is my time to go

just hold my hand and smile

And when I'm gone, I'll still be holding on

and loving you all the while

I can tell this is from your heart, Sandra and I have a lump in my throat, trying to keep the tears from falling. To the last, a mother's love, trying to make it easier for her children, loving them fiercely. This poem flows well and I like the rhyme scheme. Kudos, Sandra! Barbara

If this were spoken more often to kids, perhaps fear of loss and death would diminish. I read through it twice - I imagine it would be impossible NOT to feel pain and loss and sadness when losing someone to death, but I still appreciate the message. Comforting.....special gift to your kids.......

Very good write, but bittersweet due to the fact that this can probably never be read by your children, now or later, without some tears squeezing out! I know that if my mother had written it, id be wailing every time!
