Flying a spaceship

Flying a spaceship

A Poem by Samuel H. Ludke

I sit here in my chair looking at the space beyond,
This ship will carry me for thousands of miles,
Yet I will not move,
I sit here flying,
I sit not knowing where I'm going or what lies behind,
I travel into the void,
Black, blackness in front of me,
It is almost as if God has turned out the lights,
What is space?
Is space nothing or is space an explanation for God?
Do humans spend thousands of years looking to the stars for nothing?
I see no Angels, no heavenly Host,
If heaven is in the clouds below, I have surpassed heaven,
Did God create space?
What is beyond space?
I sit flying the spaceship.
