Losing the Will To Live

Losing the Will To Live

A Poem by Samuel H. Ludke

Twinkling in the skies above,
I think I heard the heavenly dove,
When last I saw you your breath was gone,
I knew the Lord's work was done,
In your face there was no color,
No sounded ring from above your collar,
Your heart had stopped and your soul had sprung,
Your soul was tired like a towel well rung,
Hear me now from your heavenly throne,
Why on Earth would you leave me here alone?
I'll sit here and wait until you return,
I may not wait to take my turn,
From your heavenly throne hear me,
There is no room on this Earth for me,
I'm tired of waiting for the kingdom to come,
On this Earth I do not feel welcome,
I feel as though I am a stranger here,
All that keeps me here is my family dear,
I'll join you in that heavenly kingdom,
I'll join you there while I hold this gun,
You beg and you plead,
You don't want to see me bleed,
But in the end I've planted no seed,
In the end I have committed no Good deed,
Well you and your friends succumb to greed,
Heaven above is all I need.
