Break-Up

Break-Up

A Poem by Samuel H. Ludke

Why do you hurt me so,
I don't want to let you go,
You hurt me don't you know,
You couldn't handle me,
You couldn't handle all I could be,
I'll pack my bags and go,
Don't follow me, no,
You know it's going hurt for a while,
I'll go ahead and improve my style,
The next girl, she'll stay a while,
You had your chance, no do-overs,
No more wishing on those clovers,
Watch me go down the driveway,
You know I gotta go my own way,
I'm not afraid of what's to come,
I know God will take me home,
He knows my true way,
He'll always be here to stay,
He is the life and the way,
When life doesn't do what you say,
Gotta live your life, no delay.
