Falling in my Dream

Falling in my Dream

A Poem by Samuel H. Ludke

Falling, tumbling to the ground,
Watch me fall, hear the sound,
When I reach the Earth below,
I was high and now I'm low,
I'm falling far in my dream,
If I should die, the Lord should deem,
All is right now, it would seem,
Watch me falling in my dream.
I thought I would wake before,
This feeling you can't just ignore,
How could this be a bore?
Watch me land in the stream,
Flowing on as I dream.

Many have noted the dreamlike quality of our supposedly conscious life. The speaker in this one is fully aware he is in a dream, but he says all is right. Furthermore, he is apparently enjoying it, even knowing he will be carried away by "the stream.'' Not sure how much of this one is symbolic, but the message I get is don't worry, be happy.
