Golden Land

Golden Land

A Poem by Samuel H. Ludke

Don't fret,
in my honesty I have not one regret,
I walked that valley with twists and turns,
The massive sun overhead burns,
I walk to clear my foggy head,
I walk to be here amoungst the dead.
Tombstones and monuments here lie,
I think about what it must mean to die.
Where does thy spirit go after?
Does it falter or rest forever?
Do you hear thy ancestor's laughter?
I walk this valley of death today,
To keep myself from going astray.
I know soon I will join those who are here,
I know soon that I will be  the  ground there.
If you visit me someday in that golden land,
Reach out and take my spiritual hand.
