Nightmares

Nightmares

A Poem by Samuel H. Ludke

I float upon the sea of dreams,
My brain might burst at the seams.
I am frustrated and mad,
My tears run fast when I'm sad.

To call me sick and lost,
They don't really know the cost.

To shut me up and turn the lock,
To be locked up would cause a shock.

I'm sure that I will die suddenly soon,
Anyone can die, could be tomorrow at noon.

I'm certain others hear death,
I can tell while they gasp for a breath.

I can feel your fingers cling,
I can feel your nails dig in and sting.

You try to help me,
But our love will never be.

You don't understand what is going on,
You must think I'm a hack with a con.

Tell mother I love her true,
Tell her I tried till my face turned blue.

I'm sicker now then before,
My body is weak and I feel sore.

I'm sure you heard me when I scream,
Won't someone wake me from this dream?
