Locked Up

Locked Up

A Poem by Samuel H. Ludke

I'm sorry that you think I've lost it,
Truth is I think I need a lawyer,
My only love is the bottle in my drawer.
I'm losing my mind,
I belong locked up with my own kind.
They should lock us up and put us in a cell,
Prison's not a game man, no kiss and tell.
Your child will miss you when you're behind bars, he crying,
Don't worry man I'm trying.
See I should have been a better dad,
I can't tell you how many drinks I had.
If I could have spent with you just one more night,
Maybe you wouldn't have turned out to be right.
Daddy's gone locked in the big house,
I know you must feel like a tiny mouse.
The world's got us hanging by the balls,
While daddy's sitting here talking to these walls.
I'm sorry buddy I didn't awnser your calls,
I just saved a dude from getting raped in one of those shower stalls.
You don't want to know what I've seen,
In here you gotta keep your vision keen.
I'm coming home tomorrow man and I promise you,
I'll make up for all those times I abandoned you.
